NSTAR has filed an increase for the NSTAR Green premium with the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU). If approved, this change will take effect on April 1, 2010, and would increase the NSTAR Green 50 premium to 2.356 cents per kWh from 0.837 cents per kWh. And for NSTAR Green 100, the premium would increase to 4.435 cents per kWh from 1.396 cents per kWh. For the a verage NSTAR Green 100 customer this will add approximately an additional $15 to your total bill when compared to your recent electric bills. And for the average NSTAR Green 50 customer this will add approximately an additional $7.50 to your total bill when compared to your recent electric bills.

As a reminder, the premium for NSTAR Green is added to the Basic Service rate in the "generation" portion of your bill, and if the DPU approves this rate change, it will be included with your April bill along with a reminder message.

Energy market price fluctuations are not unusual; it is reasonable to expect both upward and downward adjustments over time. It is worth noting that the total price for NSTAR Green (combined with Basic Service) after this proposed adjustment will be slightly lower than the total price when this offering was launched in July, 2008.
